Turkish 'Peace Activists' Visit Jihadists in Gaza
JERUSALEM, Israel - Turkish passengers who sailed with the Viva Palestina 5 humanitarian aid ship, which recently docked at the Egyptian port of al-Arish, visited like-minded jihadists in Gaza, Israel's YNet news reported on Tuesday.
Pictures on YNet's website showed the Turkish visitors, rocket launchers and rifles in hand, posing next to members of Islamic Jihad.
The al-Quds Brigades, the "military wing" of Islamic Jihad, featured photos of two of the Turks wearing the Brigades' uniforms.
According to the report, one of the visitors said Islamic Jihad gunmen are "a source of pride for all decent people in the Arab and Muslim world" as they fight at "the forefront of the struggle against the Zionists."
"I am proud to be here with you who have sacrificed so much for the sake of the Muslim nation. All of the Turkish people, as well as the Arabs and all Muslims, pray for your victory, support you and strengthen you," he said.
Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Recep Erdogan continues to demand a formal apology and remuneration from Israel for families of the nine Turkish activists killed aboard the Mavi Marmara on May 31.
The confrontation took place aboard the Turkish-owned flagship attempting to break Israel's naval blockade of the Gaza Strip.
About 40 pro-Palestinian activists attacked Israeli naval commandos who boarded the ship after its captain refused to sail to Israel's Ashdod port to unload its cargo for land transport to Gaza.
The soldiers were given permission to use their handguns when it became evident their lives were in danger.
Like Hamas, the Palestinian faction controlling the Gaza Strip, Islamic Jihad is dedicated to Israel's destruction.
Israel, the U.S., E.U., U.K., Japan, Canada and Australia have designated Islamic Jihad as a terrorist entity.
Likewise, IHH, the Turkish humanitarian aid organization, has maintained close contact with Islamic terror groups such as Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.

P.A. Cancels Journalists Tour to Jericho
JERUSALEM, Israel - The Palestinian Authority canceled a field tour of foreign journalists to Jericho, MediaCentral announced on Tuesday.
MediaCentral - a media-liaison organization headquartered in Jerusalem - provides support services for foreign journalists in Israel and the Palestinian territories.
The organization has sponsored day tours to PA-controlled cities in Judea and Samaria - the West Bank - where journalists are often briefed by government officials and have opportunites to meet and sometimes interview local residents.
Though the tour had been coordinated with PA Minister of Tourism Dr. Kholoud Daibis, who was scheduled to address the group, PA spokesman Ghassan Khatib said "journalists coming through an Israeli organization are not welcome."
MediaCentral director Aryeh Green said he was "concerned and appalled" at the decision.
"In four years of providing professional, credible services to the foreign press based in or visiting Israel and the PA, I am concerned and appalled that a representative of the Palestinian Authority would lay down such an exclusionary and divisive policy," Green said.
"The PA - interested in promoting coverage of subjects such as the history of a city like Jericho, with its multi-faceted and multi-religious layers of settlement - has in the past been a partner with MediaCentral in helping foreign correspondents develop a more nuanced understanding of the complexities of the issues surrounding the conflict(s) in this region," he said.
"I very much hope this is not a new and worrying step in the hardening of a Palestinian anti-Israel stance, a reflection of mounting restrictions on freedom of the press in the Palestinian areas," Green said.
Meanwhile, Hamas, the Palestinian faction controlling the Gaza Strip, has been systematically cracking down on reporters and media-affiliated organizations.
Two weeks ago, Hamas security forces raided the headquarters of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, confiscated computers and other equipment and detained several members for questioning.
